Trinity has a long history of supporting those in need in our community. One of the annual projects is the distribution of Thanksgiving boxes filled with a turkey and ingredients for sides to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. Trinity members graciously donate the food items and currently the distribution is through our Parkside Pantry team. Parkside Pantry donates bags of groceries once a month to those facing food insecurity.
This year Trinity distributed 60 Thanksgiving boxes.
The Thanksgiving boxes are decorated by our LIGHT@9 church school classes with the youth partnering with the younger students to decorate the boxes on the Sunday prior to the distribution. On the Sunday of the distribution, the youth fill the boxes along with the Parkside Pantry volunteers. This gives our young people a glimpse into the reality of food insecurity in our community and a way of learning the importance of volunteering to help those who are less fortunate.
Below you will find a photo essay of the decorating and filling of the Thanksgiving boxes. Thanks to all those who donated food items and to the Trinity youth and Missions Committee who made this possible.
