Each Sunday during Advent, we will light the Advent Wreath during our worship service. The four candles in the circle represent hope, love, joy, and peace. The center white candle represents Christ's light in the world and will be lit on Christmas Eve.
The theme of Trinity's Advent Season is "Quiet Anticipation". To highlight this theme, the choir will sing arrangements of well known Advent hymns such as "O Come, O Come Emmanuel", "People Look East", "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming" and "The Angel Gabriel". Each of these works allow us to reflect on the coming of Christ from different perspectives. "People Look East" directs all Christians to prepare for the coming of Christ, while "The Angel Gabriel" describes Mary's perspective on becoming the mother of The Most High. The organ music also highlights the Advent Theme. We will hear large settings of Advent German Chorales by J. S. Bach along with works by Pachelbel and the American composer, Daneil Pinkham. The music, both vocal and instrumental, is tightly woven around our Advent theme!
