COVID-19 UPDATE – Trinity United Methodist Church
We have learned over the last two years that dealing with a global pandemic, while ensuring the safety of our community, is an ever-changing proposition. As a result, our protocols for in-person worship and other activities have adjusted according to current advice from local, state, and federal officials.
March 2, 2022
The Trinity COVID19 Ad hoc Committee (TCAC) met on March 2, 2022, to discuss legal, health, and other issues surrounding COVID19, including the latest view of CDC data for both the United States and Hampden County, with a particular focus on omicron variant data. Following discussion, and in light of the rescission of the City of Springfield’s indoor mask mandate (effective February 28, 2022) and further pronouncements from the CDC about the relaxation of masking requirements, TCAC, by unanimous consent, agreed to rescind any mask mandate, or other COVID19 restrictions, at Trinity. The wearing of masks indoors at Trinity, while not required, will be recommended, with the following message:
We recognize that there are those within our community who have elevated health risks or concerns regarding COVID19 and other respiratory diseases. We ask that all members of our community be sensitive to these concerns and respect the choices of those who continue to mask. We have been successful in addressing the pandemic in our community by practicing extraordinary care for ourselves and each other; even though our policies are changing, our need to care for ourselves and each other remains steadfast.
For nearly two years we have found a variety of ways to connect with each other and maintain a community of faith. We trust that our congregation will continue to work together to maintain a strong congregation and to follow the recommendations of our leadership to keep everyone safe.
Since this is an ever changing situation, please check back frequently for updates to our policies and protocols. Any decisions made by the leadership team will be posted on the church’s website: www.trinityspringfield.org.
For our friends and members who are not yet ready to return to in-person worship, we will still be offering the live stream of the worship service, and a recording of the service will be available and can be accessed on our On Line Worship page.
