Advent and Christmas at Trinity
This Advent Season we invite you to wait and prepare with us for the birth of Christ, for a burst of light in the darkness. Together, let's keep warm with the joy of community and celebration, journeying through events and cherished traditions that point our eyes toward the manger and our hearts toward the coming promise of God. The flickering lights of our Advent candle, representing hope, love, joy, and peace, remind us that the Light of God has joined us. In the spirit of Christmas, know that Trinity is keeping a light on for you, reflected in a variety of offerings and in the faces of the people you will meet. Join us for our Christmas Eve services, our Advent study of an Unlikely Event, or the Makers' Martet featuring creations from our talented Trinity family. You are welcomed and wanted as we spend this season together, warmed by hot chocolate, carols, love, fellowship, and the joy of Christmas.
Advent Devotional
The Worship Committee is inviting the congregation to follow the Advent devotional, "Less is More" from The Salt Project. There is both a devotional booklet and a poster highlighting suggested activities for each week in Advent. We hope that these resources will help you to “get closer to the heart of Advent and Christmas” (The Salt Project).
You can learn more about the devotional and download the booklet and poster on the Advent Devotional page.
Advent Children's Message Series
Our Director of Program Ministries and Connections, Rob Powell, is planning a special series of Childrens' Messages on the meaning of the Advent Wreath.
Advent Study: An Unlikely Event
Join Rev. Calhoun for a four week Advent study focusing on the book: An Unlikely Advent: Extraordinary People of the Christmas Story. This Advent study will focus on the experiences of four sets of often overlooked characters in the Nativity story while guiding participants through the themes of hope, love, joy, and peace by sharing the stories of Elizabeth and Zechariah, Herod, the Magi, and the shepherds. Each set of these unexpected characters have something to teach us about living faithfully on the journey to Christmas.
Mondays Dec. 2, 9, 16, and 23 from noon -1:30 p.m. in the Parkside Cafe. You're invited to bring a brownbag lunch.
For more information please email Rev. Calhoun. To sign up for the study, please email Doreen.

Christmas Missions
The Missions Committee has decided to request donations for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) rather than choose local mission projects this year.
Natural disasters, food insecurity, health issues, and many other issues plague us locally, nationally, and globally. UMCOR responds to disasters in the United States and around the world by working with communities and local partners. When a disaster overwhelms a community’s ability to recover on its own, UMCOR provides essential relief supplies and supports long-term rebuilding efforts. While UMCOR is not a first-response organization, it stands ready to accompany communities in need over the long haul of their recovery until a “new normal” is established after a crisis. “Early in and last out” is a guiding principle of UMCOR.
Please consider giving to UMCOR in this Christmas season. You can go to the Trinity Giving page and make your donation or you can mail a check to Trinity and memo it for UMCOR.
