Membership and Evangelism
The Membership and Evangelism Ministry sponsors initiatives to strengthen the sense of community among members of the congregation and to reach out and invite others to join with us in the life we share.
This ministry seeks to:
- Strengthen existing membership
- Welcome new members
- Nurture relationships
- Encourage networking
- Share fellowship with each other and our neighbors
Membership and Evangelism committee members maintain an on-line pictorial directory to help members remain connected with each other. They also staff “The Connection Point” in Asbury Hall during Fellowship Hour after Worship every Sunday for members and friends to sign up to participate in upcoming events. At different times they have also hosted new member “reunions,” worship attendance drives and followed up with phone calls or cards to people that the group felt would appreciate this type of additional connection.
Our Lay Pastoral Caregivers work closely with our pastors to develop a relationship with, and to give support to, members who can no longer attend worship services on a regular basis, families of newly baptized babies/children, and those who have recently suffered the loss of a loved one.
In September the Membership and Evangelism Ministry sponsors a Neighborhood Block Party and invites Trinity members and residents of the neighborhood to eat and play together.
Another community initiative is an outdoor movie shown on Trinity’s lawn in summer, usually during the week of Vacation Bible Camp.
