Musicians for Habitat
Musicians for Habitat, a benefit concert for Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity will be presented in Asbury Hall on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 pm. The concert features 7 of local piano teacher Galina Gertsenzon's most advanced students who will perform works by Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saens, Grieg, and Bach. All of the young pianists have performed in the community and are members of the Tuesday Morning Music Club's Junior Extension. Collectively, they have won many awards, and several have played at Carnegie Hall.
Ms. Gertsenzon and Vera Baker are collaborating on this event, both believing there is great benefit in finding ways for young people to "give back" to the community. Habitat was chosen because of its mission of seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope" and vision of "a world where everyone has a decent place to live".
