Holy Week and Easter

All are invited to join in our Holy Week and Easter celebrations.  This is a special time of the Christian calendar as we celebrate the resurrection and God's faithfulness and the power of love.  This year Easter falls in the middle of spring.  As the earth “comes to life” once again after a long and at times hard winter, nature itself seems to be reinforcing the message of the resurrection. Life emerges from the formerly barren and once hard places of our lives. New life is possible and springs forth in due time.

April 14 Palm Sunday

This year all who would like to learn how to make Palm Crosses for the congregation are invited to Asbury Hall at 9 a.m. All ages are welcome.  This will take the place of Church School classes for children and youth.  Adult classes will continue as usual.

A Festive palm procession will start the service. Palms and palm crosses will be handed out. Participating in this service are the Chancel Choir, Chamberettes, Choristers, and Handbell Choir. The music theme is“Ride on King Jesus.” A special Children’s message and sermon will highlight this time of worship marking the beginning of the most important week of the year in Christian faith.

April 18 Holy Thursday

Children’s Program for ages 3 to 12 at 6:45 p.m. in the Junior Achievement Room.  Children will be painting Easter flags to help learn the story of Holy Week and parents of preK and K children are asked to remain with their children to help them.  Please bring a painting shirt.  More details are available on the Children's page.

A special service will be held in Asbury Hall at 7 p.m. This service will include a meditation, singing, prayers, communion, and movement.  Holy Thursday night marks the last time Jesus was with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. The soloist for the evening will be Teri LaFeur. Younger children who have been at their own special program will join with the rest of the congregation for the conclusion of this service.

April 19 Good Friday

A special service of light and shadows will be offered at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. This time for worship will recall the crucifixion of Jesus. Inspirational music will be provided by Trinity’s Chamber Singers. MarkFraser will be our guest cellist and Rev. Erin Newcomb- Moore will be playing the violin. The musical theme will be "Silent Tears." We’ll be blessed by a special piece offered by Trinity’s Dance Movement Choir and other opportunities for prayer, reflection and meditation.
