Season of Lent
Lent is a forty-day period for prayer and spiritual self-examination that helps prepare us for the festival of the Resurrection, also called “Easter.” This year Easter is held on Sunday, April 12. This forty-day period, which begins on Ash Wednesday, February 26, does not include Sundays, as these “Lord’s Days” are meant to be viewed as weekly celebrations of the resurrection.
Our theme for the season of Lent this year is "Wilderness".
On Ash Wednesday, February 26, we will hold a special service at 7:00 p.m. in Grace Chapel which will include the imposition of ashes. In addition, during the regular weekly prayer and discernment service at 9:30 a.m., ashes will be available.
Each week during Lent we will hold a mid-day service on Fridays following the Lenten Luncheons from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. The service will include a meditation, music, and scripture.
The leaders for our Friday mid-day services are:
