Trinity's Accessibility Project
Exciting times at Trinity! The Accessibility Project is well underway.
Thanks to a very generous donation, Trinity will soon have an elevator from the parking lot to the sanctuary, new accessible doors to the chapel from the sanctuary and a new platform lift to Asbury Hall.
Due to the construction the parking lot door and stairway will be closed for construction. This means the Hale Room and Community Building (front of the building) entrances will need to be used to enter the building during week days. The Chapel and Sanctuary entrances will be open on Sunday mornings.
Updates as of January 22, 2026:
The accessibility project is progressing pretty much on schedule and on budget. We seem to still be on schedule for project completion (except possibly some exterior painting, etc.) by Easter Sunday (April 5th)
The lift by the chapel has been decommissioned and was removed on 1/13/26.
The three stained glass windows in the chapel narthex have been carefully removed and boxed for a future undetermined use.
The plaster was stripped from the walls where the new opening will be cut this week. Once the walls have been opened and the rubble removed, the glass enclosures will be installed.
Electricians, plumbers, and representatives of the alarm company are installing new power, working on the heating system, and upgrading the alarms. Scaffolding will be set up in the chapel for some of the alarm work.
The elevator machine room is almost completed.
The lift for outside the chapel has been ordered is tentatively scheduled for installation in mid to late February. It must undergo state inspection before it is operational.
The elevator is scheduled to be delivered to Otis Elevator in Agawam this week where it will remain until the shaft is completed, the electrical lines are installed, and inspection is completed. Actual installation of the elevator will take 4-6 weeks plus additional time for inspection to be completed.
Options are being explored for pathway lighting.
New interior doors have arrived and will be installed at the appropriate time in the construction process.
We will be updating the pictures on this page when there is new progress to share. Please note that as we add new pictures, we will remove some of the older ones.
